Our PurposeAt Northminster Presbyterian Church, inspired by the Holy Spirit, we celebrate God’s love and follow Christ’s teachings to seek, serve and embrace. This has always been our purpose. From each parking space to the Gathering Place we are ready to welcome our community. From the furnace to the fire alarm, we are updated and upgraded. We have a ramp for easy access to the sanctuary, a meeting room for groups and committees, space for our worship and music, and a youth room that reflects the energy and enthusiasm of those who inhabit it. |

We launched our building project four years ago to deal with issues of accessibility, space for gathering and worship, upkeep and renovation. The purpose was to upgrade and improve our facilities so it might serve our mission and purpose long into the future. In our first campaign we raised $2.7 million.
The future we hoped and prayed for is coming to fruition. The new nursery is full of babies. Children flood the chancel steps for the "time with children" each week. Church school enrollment is up and worship attendance is rising. We opened ourselves to God's future and God acted. We are growing and changing as we strive to hear and follow God's call. Please plan to join us. Our Future is Now.
Here are some of the spaces we've finished:
- The new Gathering Place
- Nursery
- Parking lot
- HVAC
- Offices
- Knox Room
- Calvin Hall
- Chancel
We raised $2.7 million in our "Open to the Future" capital campaign, which made all the renovations possible. Today, we are asking for $2.5 million to pay off their costs. Our goal for Our Future is Now is $1.5 million.
Your commitment and faithfulness allowed us to borrow less than we anticipated. But even so, we knew that was only a beginning and we would have to raise the rest of the money in the future. Well, Our Future is Now.
The hard and dusty work is over. Now we need to pay off the remaining costs of the project. We need every member of Northminster to help us with this challenge. We cannot let our programming and commitments to mission suffer while we carry a debt. If we claim together that Our Future is indeed Now, we can move into that future financially sound and spiritually healthy.
The new Gathering Place has far exceeded all our expectations. Our fellowship is strengthened, hospitality more visible, coffee better, access easier, and friendliness more apparent in this place. Worship in the renovated sanctuary is warm and engaging. The downstairs rooms are teeming with activity all week long and the office space makes for a pleasant work environment. The whole building feels alive with the Spirit.
We have accomplished all this because of the commitment of this congregation. Now it is time to make another commitment. Please prayerfully consider what you are honestly able to do to help us pay off this building project. We need your participation to make this happen.
The Bridge Team publishes campaign updates and activities that remind our congregation of what our pledges have promised and what they have already accomplished. As with the previous campaign, 10% of Our Future is Now funds go directly to Missions. This time it's Presbyterian Disaster Assitance, Interfaith Hunger Initiative, Indianapolis Public School #55, Dayspring Center and the partnership between the Church Federation of Greater Indianapolis and Habitat for Humanity.
On Sunday, November 20, the Bridge Team will have an exhibit highlighting the new spaces with remembrances of the former facility. Individuals and groups can also participate in a treasure hunt, visiting five places in the church they may never have seen, answering a question about that space, and win prizes. For example, what kind of soap is in our new shower?
Yes, there is a shower.
