Northminster's Youth Ministry is designed for youth in middle school (6th, 7th, & 8th(grades) & High School (9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th grades.)

 

Hi!  I’m Julie Shannon, Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries at NorthminsterChurch.  Jacob Mann and I strive to make our Youth programming and events a fun, warm, and welcoming experience.  Youth Fellowship, Sunday School, and several other church events are places where you can be yourself, a place to make new friends, and hang out with your old friends, and a great place to learn about God andgrow in your faith!  We welcome you, your family, and  your friends to Northminster!

February 2012 Youth Activities! February 4^th: Souper Bowl of Caring Rally & Service Blitz!!  Since the Super Bowl is taking place in Indianapolis this year, we have the opportunity to be part of Souper Bowl of Caring in a BIG way!  If you have not heard of Souper Bowl of Caring, please check out their website: http://www.souperbowl.org

Please plan to join a group from Whitewater Valley Presbytery (and a lot of others!) for a rally the day before the Super Bowl.  Come for Breakfast, fun, music, Colts Cheerleaders and BLUE, prizes, and lots of fun and inspiration!

Date:  Saturday, Feb. 4, 8:00-10:00 AM

Place:  Arsenal Tech High School West Gym, 1500 E. Michigan St. Indianapolis, IN 46201 After the Rally, groups of volunteers will spread across the city to volunteer at hunger relief agencies (foodbank, food pantry, soup kitchen, etc.). 

Details for our group:  We will meet at the church at 7:15am to catch a ride to attend an awesome Rally at Arsenal Tech High School.  Following the Rally we will set off to volunteer at the Midwest Food Bank. We’ll finish our time with some lunch back at the church. We will end the day by 1pm.

February 5^th: Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday!  Bring canned and non perishable food items to church! Help collect donations.  Following both worship services we will need youth volunteers to hold soup pots to collect cash and food donations! We are going to fight hunger in a big Way this year!

February 5^th:  Evening youth Fellowship will be a Super bowl Party at the Plunketts’ home: 5307 East 75th St.  Indianapolis  IN. 46250 ph#   537.2122

We’ll gather from 5:30pm to half time (it is a school night), eat food, watch the commercials, play a few games, and have a wonderful time cheering on our teams. Please bring a snack to share.

 February 12^th, 19^th, & 26^th –Regular Youth Fellowship 6-8pm.

 Confirmation 2012:

February 5^th, 12^th, 19^th, & 26^th: Classes are from 10am to 12pm.  Two hours!  Pastors Teri and Ruth will be there to teach as well!

Mark Your Calendars Now!

Our Youth annual fundraiser is quickly approaching!

What is it? A fun evening for all ages!  The evening begins with an Italian dinner served by the youth, throughout the night there is a Silent Auction & Raffle. A Live Auction with incredible items starts at 7pm. There games for children. *No reservations required. However, if you do RSVP—we’ll reserve a seat upfront and your reward?  Is one free raffle ticket!

When?  Saturday, March 3^rd, from 6-8:30pm.

Where? Calvin Hall, Northminster Presbyterian Church

Why? All proceeds go towards the youth summer trips.

Donate Items for our Italian Night!  The youth of Northminster greatly appreciates the support of the Northminster congregation and community for Italian Night.  Donations for our live or silent auction are a great way to help.  If you have a special talent or a unique opportunity to donate please contribute!  Here are a few past popular donations: Family Game basket, handcrafted jewelry, a gourmet dinner delivered, pet sitting, and various services.  Please email Julie Shannon at with your questions and ideas!

Summer Trip Mission Trip!  Be involved in the planning of a Mission Trip here in the States!  St. Louis is our destination.  This trip will be 4-5 days and will involve service work and just pure fun experiencing the city.  We will be looking at the month of July! Please let me know of your interest, your availability, and your ideas!  This trip will be for youth entering the 8^th grade through high school.

 

Montreat Youth Conference: Last summer three high school youth attended the Montreat Youth Conference and had an amazing time.  Let me know if you are interested and we’ll head back to Montreat again.  We will look at a day of White water rafting before the conference.  This trip will be in the later part of July.  This conference is for youth going into the 9^th grade to those graduating the 12^th grade.  College youth can attend to be on the work crew.  If you attend Montreat’s Worship and Music and would like to go back –we’ll help you out!
