Worship at Northminster

At Northminster, people of faith have been worshiping and celebrating the life of Christ for almost 70 years. Our church uses the worship style of the Reformed tradition but is contemporary in thought and action. Our hope is that our worship is dignified yet warm, contemplative yet exuberant—alive to God's spirit today.

The Sunday worship service focuses on celebrating God's love for us and our commitment to God. Inspirational prayers, motivating sermons and captivating music are blended into a service that draws us closer to God and to each other.

We offer Sunday services at 9 and 11 am. Both services center around four sections: Approaching God, Listening for God's Word, Responding to God, and Going Forth. Music is provided by our organ, chancel choir, children's choirs, and is often enhanced by guest singers and instrumentalists. Vital congregational singing is essential to our community in glorifying God. Whether it is hymns old and new, African American spirituals, ancient chant, responses from the Taize and Iona traditions, Latin American rhythms, or music composed last month, we are led in deeper participation in the church's shared life in Christ. Both services also include "Time with Children," after which children can remain with their families in worship or leave the sanctuary to attend Children's Church.
