Advent Art Installation

Time: 12:00 am – 12:00 am

Throughout the season of Advent, the ramp from the Gathering Place to the Sanctuary will feature the art of Indianapolis artist Kristy Quinn. Pieces of art will be added each week to reflect both our season of waiting and the text of Hymn No. 100 in our Glory to God hymnal (The Canticle of the Turning.)

  • November 27 – Hope “…My heart shall sing of the day you bring…”
  • December 4 – Peace “…let the fires of your justice burn…”
  • December 11 – Joy “…wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near…"
  • December 18 – Love "…the world is about to turn…”

Kristy’s art medium is clay and mixed media. Some pieces may be a specific shape, while others emerge organic and free flowing. Texture, dimension, and motion particularly inform her work. She finds the process of creating uniquely spiritual, coaxing stories from beneath the surface.

During Advent - a time of wonder, anticipation, and turning (note particularly the circular/mandala images included in the art) - she encourages you to discover your personal stories of wonder, imagination, and holiness as you contemplate the shapes and patterns found within each piece.

Kristy maintains a home studio practice in the Irvington neighborhood of Indianapolis. She is a Presbyterian Elder, recently retired after 22 years of service at the Presbytery of Whitewater Valley.
