Ashes-to-Go – Imposition of Ashes
Wednesday, February 17, 4 - 6 pm

Ashes have historically been a part of Ash Wednesday worship services. As they are imposed on our foreheads the ashes remind us of our mortality – you come from the dust and to the dust you shall return. They are also a symbol of repentance during the season of Lent. The ashes are put on our foreheads in the shape of a cross so that we remember that we are always forgiven of our sin.

This year, since our Ash Wednesday service will be online, your chance for the imposition of ashes on your forehead will be through Ashes-to-Go in our south parking lot on the 17th from 4 - 6 pm. You will stay in your car and the ministers will impose ashes with Q-tips so we can limit our contact. The ministers will be masked and we ask that you be masked and stay in your car. The ministers will come to you with liturgy and prayer so we can continue this ancient ritual as best we can in pandemic times.

Ash Wednesday Live Streaming Worship
Wednesday, February 17, 7:00 pm

On Ash Wednesday, we will Enter the Wilderness as we begin our Lenten journey of Living in the Wilderness. We will ask for the Spirit's guidance for our journey to the cross and empty tomb. We will begin by remembering our baptism - and how the promises made at the Font prepare us to live faithfully in the wilderness. The sacrament of the Lord's Supper will nourish us for the journey ahead. To prepare for this service, please prepare a small bowl of water for remembering your baptism and some bread/crackers and juice/wine for celebrating communion.  Join us as we prepare to live the Lenten season together.  We will be  live-streaming our Ash Wednesday worship at 7 pm on February 17th.
