Walking the Advent Road

Our Advent journey began on Sunday, December 3rd, as we took our first steps towards the manger in Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus. Our theme for this Advent pilgrimage is “God Restores God’s World.” Each week the prophet Isaiah’s voice will call us to consider a different facet of the restoration and re-building God is engaged in continually in our world: Time, Geography, People, Power. As we hear Isaiah’s words – some harsh and some quite comforting - remember the prophet was writing to a people conquered by the Babylonians, taken prisoner and exiled to a strange land. They crave hope, yearn for peace and cry out for restoration …

I pray we will allow Isaiah’s words to speak to our lives this season. What is it in your life that craves renewal? What yearns to be repaired? Where in your own life do you need God’s restorative power? Let us walk this Advent Road together.
