Adult Fellowship

Whatever you want to call it, fellowship, socializing, coffee clache, clique, going Greek, these groups, established by adults over the years, are made up of singles and couples of certain age groups who like to get together, go on field trips and  hang out.  The people in these groups have formed bonds through activities in the church, or they have formed bonds through the social groups.  Wherever the seeds of friendship are planted, they grow and strengthen the congregation in all it does.

"Joy" Ministry Just Older Adults meets monthly for lunch and programming.  We take trips, participate in service to the Church School and have a good time together. Contact for more information.

Parents with a Passion

Wednesdays are busy at our church.  The group formed for parents hanging around waiting for the children to get out of choir and handbell rehearsals.  But it's caught on. The group meets from 6:15 to 7:30 on Wednesdays to pray, laugh, share and support each other.  Each week, Julie Shannon, Youth Director, and Liz Neterval, Parish Nurse, lead the group through a meaty topic.  Choirs, homework help and childcare are available.  Contact  for more information.

Mom to Mom
Moms of preschoolers and infants meet the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in members homes.  This is a support/fellowship group.  Some moms work full time, some stay at home and some are in between.  All are welcome!  You will find loving supportive moms and we always have chocolate!   Contact at 251-9489 ext. 28 for more information.

Tandem
Meeting the 3rd Tuesday each month at MCL in Castleton, 11:30 am, Tandem is made up of retired couples and singles. Newcomers are always welcome!  Contact Grace Drennan for more information at 849-9112.

North'Stars
Generally for people singles and couples in their 60's & 70's, North'Stars meet each month for social events at members' homes as well as go to plays and concerts together. Contact Joyce Mallette at 251-9602.

Boomers
You can pretty much figure out how old these folks are.  Mostly singles and couples now in their 50's and 60's, the Boomers gather occasionally for events like plays and Symhony on the Prairie.  What we never miss is the annual pitch-in Christmas party and ornament exchange.  For more information about this group that puts the "boom" in Boomers, contact

Library Committee
This group meets in the Library (of course!) on an as-needed basis.  It manages resource materials, scholarly publications, inspirational collections, and books a lot of us like a lot and wanted made available to the rest.  Contact at 251-9489, ext. 16 if you'd like to help.

Women's Bible Study
Meets every Tuesday from 10:45 a.m. to noon.  This is a large and lively group that dives into the depths of Scripture with the guidance from Associate Pastor .  Contact Ruth at 251-9489 ext. 14 for more information.

Men's Prayer Breakfast
Meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30 am. in Calvin Hall. The Men's Prayer Breakfast is one of Northminster's oldest groups, but young guys come, too! (Click here for the history of this group.) Their staying power may be due to the fact that so many of these men have spent years starting their workday here once a week.  And they make very good coffee.  Contact for more information.

Banner Committee
Fondly crowned "the banner ladies," the committee meets on an as-needed basis, usually on Tuesdays, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.  It's a small group of women that design and create large sanctuary banners and paraments that hang from the pulpit and lectern. Together with those who enjoy counted-cross stitching, they also provide small individual Baptismal banners that are presented to each child baptised at Northminster.  Contact Sue Decker at 251-7967 if you'd like to be a part of this group.

Stephen Ministry
A ministry for church members and friends. Stephen Ministers are trained lay people who are available to "walk with you" when you have hit a bump in the road of life. Stephen Ministers are not there to solve your problem, but to be with you, to listen, to be non-judgmental, to keep all conversations confidential, and to be a consistent Christian caregiver. If you would like more information, please check Stephen Ministries or contact Rev. at 251-9489 ext. 14 or Betty Bowers at 259-7366.

Newsletter Assembly - "Stuffers"
Come and help us prepare our monthly newsletter to be mailed to the congregation and to our visitors!  We enjoy fellowship, food and coffee while we work.  It's a great way to get to know some of our members - and get a preview of what's coming up in our church. We generally meet on the last Monday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in Calvin Hall.  Contact at 253-3132 for more details.
