Ten Commandments in Public Spaces
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Location: Northminster Presbyterian Church (1660 Kessler Blvd E Dr)
Join us on Wednesday, April 8th, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm to hear Rev. Dr. Timothy C. McNinch, PhD, Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible and Director, Master of Theological Studies Program at Christian Theological Seminary (CTS).
The display of the Ten Commandments in public spaces (schools, courtrooms, etc.) has been a source of political controversy around the country and here in Indiana. Do the commandments represent universal values of morality and personal accountability, or are they religious rules meant only for Jews and Christians? Are they a venerable part of our heritage as a “Christian nation,” or are they part of an insidious “Christian nationalist” ideology? What does their public display today communicate? And how can we evaluate their usefulness for our faith communities and in the public square?
