Why is Northminster Presbyterian Church Discussing Christian Nationalism?
As humans, we often want to avoid controversy, but sometimes we cannot. Historically, the Presbyterian Church USA [PC(USA)] has not shied away from difficult topics but instead has asked important questions informed by our faith and faith tradition about how we can learn, grow, and approach the discomfort in constructive ways that can bring about positive changes in ourselves, our faith journey, and our world. Responding to something that permeates every facet of our faith, personal, and communal life – like Christian Nationalism – is not radical; on the contrary, it is responsible. Our goal is to equip participants for healthy and constructive conversations. (from Northminster's Response to Christian Nationalism, 2024)
