We are excited to welcome members of First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church who may be helping our Northminster volunteers during this week.

On October 3, several Northminster members attended the Family Promise Home Sweet Home celebration.  On that date, exactly 25 years before (10/3/94), Carmel United Methodist Church welcomed the first families to find shelter as part of the Interfaith Hospitality Network.  The celebration event raised over $120,000.  Mike Chapuran, Executive Director of Family Promise, wrote:  "As the shelter program has recently expanded from serving 45 families in 2016 to a projected 70 families this year, that increased funding is necessary to provide the same quality of service to all families we help throughout the year.”  The program noted these snapshot statistics from 2018:  60 congregations involved, more than 20,000 volunteer hours, 59 families (including 115 children) assisted, 8,678 bed nights, with 47 families in the AfterCare Program.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the Dessert Auction.  The Northminster/All Souls Unitarian/Orchard Park table made donations over $1,500 and enjoyed a delicious vanilla & chocolate cake from Taylor Bakery.
