Northminster Presbyterian Church (USA) has been a presence in the Broad Ripple community for over 75 years.
We are an open, welcoming, inclusive community of faith committed to service to and partnership with our neighbors. Since our beginning, mission, worship, education, and music have been hallmarks of Northminster Presbyterian Church.
People from all backgrounds are invited to join us on our journey. We are not a church with all the answers but we welcome all the questions and will wrestle with them together.
We believe we are called to seek where God might be revealed in our lives each day, to serve the world around us, and to embrace one another with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.
We are old and young, liberal and conservative, and represent many different cultures and traditions. We come by ourselves, with our spouses, our partners, our children, or our parents. You are always welcome to join this growing fellowship of faith on our journey. We welcome you for a day or for a lifetime.
If you have any questions about Northminster, please don't hesitate to call one of our pastors at (317) 251-9489. We pray that you will discover God's presence among us.

A Matthew 25 Congregation
Northminster is proud to be a Matthew 25 congregation focused on building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty.
We join with over 1,180 congregations, 96 mid councils, and 66 groups that share a commitment to the Matthew 25 vision. This invitation centers on Matthew 25:31-46, the parable of the sheep and goats, which emphasizes Jesus' message that our actions matter to God and how we treat others holds significance.
"When we welcome others, we welcome Christ; when we bring together people who are divided, we are doing God’s reconciling work. We are called to serve Jesus by contributing to the well-being of the most vulnerable in all societies – rural and urban, small and large, young and not-so-young. From affordable housing to community gardens to equitable educational and employment opportunities to healing from addiction and mental illness to enacting policy change – there is not just one way to be a part of the Matthew 25 movement."
Covenant Network of Presbyterians
Northminster Presbyterian is a member of The Covenant Network of Presbyterians, founded in 1997 with the vision of “a church as just and generous as God’s grace” to eradicate PCUSA legislation that discriminated against the full participation of LGBTQ church members. Restrictions against ordination and against recognizing same-gender marriage have now been eliminated from our Book of Order.
With the fulfillment of the original goal, the Network continues to seek an equity still not fully realized for LGBTQIA people in church and society by:
- Engaging the church to invite all of God’s children into safe and welcoming congregational spaces of affirmation, healing, dignity, and purpose.
- Educating the church to expand our welcome of LGBTQIA people, affirm their gifts for ordained office, and uphold marriage equality for all.
- Equipping the church to bear witness to justice through advocacy and activism at the international, national, and local church levels; speaking a prophetic word in anxious and divided times, and standing with others in fighting hate and oppression against any of God’s children.
Our History
For more than three-quarters of a century, our church has grown from a small group meeting on Sunday evenings in another church to hundreds of members in our current building with four expanded sections to accommodate all of our activities and ministries. Today, we are an active and dynamic force in Broad Ripple and in communities around the world.
From the landmark steeple along Kessler Avenue to the outstanding music program that is an integral part of our worship, we offer a welcoming presence and warm family feeling.
We are a congregation that has met challenges and triumphs with the curiosity of seekers, the attitude of servants and the embrace of Christ’s love. We look forward to encountering our history-making moments of today and tomorrow.
All people are welcome to visit Northminster and to consider becoming a part of our ministry.

A typical worship service at NPC consists of prayers, hymns, children's time, scripture readings, and a sermon which usually runs about 15 minutes. The bulletin (or order of worship) is available in printed form from our ushers upon entering. Times when the congregation is invited to respond are highlighted and bolded in the bulletin. If you'd like to view a previous bulletin that best represents a typical Sunday, click here.

What Should I Wear?
Come as you are! We don't require any specific dress code but business casual is a common starting point.
Am I Allowed to Take Communion?
Just as Christ taught us, all are welcome at the table. Presbyterians believe in "open communion" and that communion “is not a right bestowed upon the worthy, but a privilege given to the undeserving who come in faith, repentance, and love.” Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month.
Is Sunday School Available for Children?
Yes! Childcare is available for all children and is located on the north side of the church.
How Else Can I Get Involved?
Our events page is a great resource to see upcoming events through the church. If you'd like more information on any event or if you'd like to learn more about becoming a member of NPC, please contact .
We also offer a number of classes and small groups including men's bible study, Wednesday night dinners, "Northminster Reads" book group, "Northminster Presents" speaker series, and more!
