Family Promise / Interfaith Hospitality Network
Time: 12:00 am – 12:00 am
Northminster Presbyterian Church
As you read this, we hope you are enjoying your summer activities. But we invite you to think about the families in the Interfaith Hospitality Network shelter program who have no home, no place to enjoy summer.
Northminster will be hosting 4 families the week of August 11-18 in our building. Let’s join together to show them warm hospitality and maybe a bit of summer fun.
Coordinators will be in the Gathering Place July 14, 21, 28, and August 4 for you to sign up to help: as drivers, food preparation, activity hosts, or overnight hosts.

Thank you so much for continuing our 24+ years commitment to provide hospitality for homeless families “Because every child still deserves a home.”
This quotation was on the cover of Family Promise’s 2018 Annual Report, recently distributed at their 25th Reunion. Several Northminster members attended the picnic celebration. Highlights in the Annual Report:
· 8,678 nights of shelter were provided to children and their parents/caregivers, with more than $500,000 provided through in-kind food, transportation, facilities, and voluntarism;
· The Interfaith Hospitality Network shelter program had the highest housing rate of a family shelter in Indianapolis by 14% (Source: Coalition for Homelessness Intervention & Prevention 2018 Outcomes Report for ESG-Funded Programs);
· Eighty-eight percent of families that left our shelter to housing in the prior two years were still housed as of December 31, 2018—also the highest housing retention rate of any family shelter in Indy (ibid.);
· The average length of stay for the IHN shelter was 47 days, and the best of any other family shelter was 34 days—so this is a primary focus for improvement for Family Promise;
And notice their new logo. The new star logo highlights the 5 core values of the local chapter and the national organization: Shelter, Prevention, Stabilization, Community, and Promise.
