Inter-Faith Book Study

Time: 12:00 am – 11:59 pm

Sponsored by: Christ the King Catholic Church, Congregation Beth Shalom, Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, Meridian Street United Methodist Church, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Northminster Presbyterian Church, Second Presbyterian Church

We believe that our faith traditions call us to love our neighbors and we are encouraging you to read this book, hear the call of our faiths, and work together to make a difference in our communities.

“Sociologist Matthew Desmond’s new book explains why poverty persists despiteand because ofthe things we do... In this new book, Desmond examines the intricate web of visible and invisible forces that keep so many Americans poor...It will take faith to work toward something presently unimaginable, hope to know that it is possible, and lovethat irrational emotion that leads us to sacrifice when there is nothing for us to gain when there’s even something for us to lose.” ~ Review by Tony Tian-Ren Lin

The study sessions will be interactive and your engagement in discussions will be welcomed. You are invited to attend any or all sessions; it is not necessary to attend all sessions to participate.
