Support the Westside Project!

Did you grow up in one of those neighborhoods where there was one, cool yard where all the kids played? One yard that was THE place for block parties, birthday parties, or even a wedding reception? It’s remarkable how one yard can engage a community.

Over 75 years ago, Northminster was founded to engage a growing community of faith. Our first church doors, now the westside doors to the Lindquist Chapel, remind us that we are open to engaging neighbors near and far in Christ’s love. Today, our neighbors attend worship, Sound and Spirit, mid-town markets, and other events. They enroll their children in Northminster Pre-School or bring their children to enjoy the playground in our ‘yard’.

But, to be honest, our westside ‘yard’ isn’t the coolest yard in the neighborhood. Last May, we began to imagine improvements to the west side of the church property. What started as a project to envision an updated playground area on Ralston, has blossomed into a full-blown effort to restore the west side of the church to a flexible, safe, and welcoming area.

When finished this spring, NPC’s Yard will be the "Cool Yard" in the neighborhood. We’ve already poured concrete, installed handicapped railing, improved fencing and security, taken delivery of equipment, and moved the dumpster. Soon, we’ll install picnic tables with large umbrellas, landscaping, a fire pit (the youth group likes that), and a grassy area for worship and events.

Through the generosity of leadership gifts from Preschool families and church members alike, we are over halfway to fully funding the project. We need $50,000 to get to the finish line. Inch by inch and yard by yard, we are making progress. You can help us by purchasing a yard of our Yard. Join the “A Yard of the Yard” campaign and give online here, or drop a check by the office. Use one of these suggested giving levels or an amount of your choosing:
